serendipity-
friend’s father needs new right hip
goes to see doctor
registered nurse says
we don’t have a chest x-ray
on file – let’s take one
find spot on x-ray
it’s cancer – but only one
millimeter long
doctor is hopeful-
it has not metastasized
and can be removed

Whew, seems like the imminent hip surgery saved his life. Serendipity indeed.

I’m a RN…like the positive take on medical serendipity.
Very nicely written haiku.

siggi, thank you. Nurses do amazing work – and deserve more recognition. This is an extraordinary example (from my perspective), but nurses do positive things all the time for so many people. And thank you for the kind words on my poem.

Thank you. This was a different kind of haiku poem for me; I wasn’t too sure about it.
