NaPoWriMo – Day Twenty-One

I am sick: achey, sore, and
feverish. I can’t think straight.
I watch bad movies because
that’s all my brain can handle.

Well, cooking shows too, but the
food looks unappetizing.
So, here is my poem for
today. Sorry it’s so bad.

I just couldn’t manage a poem at all yesterday, so here’s this one – a day late and a dollar short.

  1. Listen, what keeps me going is having you appear so regularly. I figure ‘if Richard, who teaches, is producing a poem a day, what’s your excuse?’ No one said anything about good this month, so keep writing little letter poems and you’ll get there. Feel better. It sounds like flu, so hopefully the short kind.

  2. Secret? On those days when nothing comes, I simply start writing and somewhere in all those words will come a phrase, a thought, an idea. That’s the beginning. Short or long, it makes no difference. This month is for making poems. No where in that statement does it say they have to be high caliber, take your breath away, awe inspiring, lyrical, or even make sense. If need be, start with a blue cat baying at a red moon. It makes no difference. I wrote a letter to the poem fairy pleading for help. The next day I wrote a response to that plea from her assistant. That’s two days worth and it was fun because I chose to do it. You can, too.
