he’s counting on you
make no fuss
again for the man
making those
impotent
sweet miserable wishes
that always go wrong
the genie
will grant them again
of course to
prove to him
the futility of goals
without any work
the genie
is banking on him
going bust
counting on
the figures going straight down
to miserable
yet again
the genie’s interest
is not in
the riches
but in making him truly
see what is enough

Ah – that is a wonderful wish granted – the ability to see what is truly ‘enough’ Bravo ! 🙂

You have to add value to your actions… your genie knows that!

Personally, I hate it when people are counting on me, because I continually disappoint them. I hope the genie is disappointed too!

So wise… contentment comes when “enough” is wealth. Good to see you, Richard!

It’s hard to know when it’s “enough.”

Interesting as even children’s shows try and teach that wishes for wants are not reality. We can only hope that the lesson sticks. Nicely penned.

For many of us who have known times of unfulfilled want, rampant consumerism is like an ugly beast at the door. Will this time ever pass?

Hi Richard. My impotent sweet miserable wishes always go wrong too. Great thought. 🙂

This last stanza, Richard, tells the tale! The priorities come into view! Thanks for this.
