Night of Writing Dangerously 2012

I’m about ready to leave for The Night of Writing Dangerously, a fundraising event for The Office of Letters and Light. I’m very excited.

I’m currently at 28,054 words. I’m about two thousand behind schedule.

My students have written a total of 75,610 words!

Thanks again to everyone who donated to The Office of Letters and Light – and to everyone who has encouraged me. My cup runneth over.

Full Moon

You are full again
full of life
full of hope
for the future

Your glow warms me
at night
in the morning

At noon
you may be gone
but I think
of your light

At night again
you are back
and my hands
are on your full belly

Some Matches

some matches burn out
igniting nothing
but themselves

some matches burn
your fingers

some matches
kindle a flame

some flames burn out

some flames last a while
and then burn out
those hurt too

some flames
become a fire
that never burns out

to find your flame
you have to strike
some matches
